- Our current team composition in Underwriting is such that almost 50% of the team members are doctors. This means non-medical underwriters have immediate referral points when it comes to critical medical inputs. We also have a CMO team consisting of MBBS doctors, who are doing ECG/TMT/Echo/USG/CXR/PFT opinion cases for various companies. CMO’s are also skilled in giving complete medical opinion in accordance with reinsurance manuals and company guidelines. Underwriters have access to these set of CMO’s as well. This only means decision making become even more robust.
- Beyond this, there are certain medical conditions & findings where specific rating or guideline is not available. CMO’s judgement & assessment becomes very important in these cases. Underwriter’s can always check with CMO’s for these cases. This CMO & Underwriter collaboration, saves time, moves business forward.
- We follow a four eyes approach in underwriting. This means even before recommending for issuance or otherwise decisioning, a second underwriter independently evaluates the case. This is of course for randomly sampled cases.
- Maintaining Turn Around Time (TAT) is critical for our business and underwriters are well trained on this aspect.
- We are ISO 27001: 2013 certified; Complying with all security norms; IS governance, Endpoint security, Application security, Network Security, Vulnerability assessment, Physical Security/ HR security, Version controls and Incident Management.

Circa 2000 – Insurance industry in India was privatized. The same year INCHES was launched with the knowledge and belief that since a large percentage of decisions in insurance are based on medical insights - be it underwriting or claims, overseas partners entering India would need to refine the processes to suit the Indian scenario. As a part of the Transformation journey @ INches, we have embarked on a series of initiatives across multiple dimensions within the Human Capital and the Digital landscape. The vision being that these will be the two blocks that will power the emergence of INCHES ver 2.0 between 2023 and 2024.
We are delighted to announce the Go Live of our Cloud hosted Smart Work Flow Engine, iConstellation. While our Digital Road Map has five different phases to be implemented over the next twenty four months, with the launch of iConstellation, we have successfully taken the first step towards enabling multiple layers of value enhancing functionalities through Cognitive Solutions that can be overlaid on our Core Technology Platform.
With iConstellation - Smart Workflow Engine, we now have the ability for; Effective Management of Process Deliveries, Enabling of Higher levels of Customer Visibility, Enhanced Controls for Process Quality, Management of Individual and Team Productivity and Deeper Operational Insights through Real Time Analytics.
All of these capabilities have been robustly secured through a Data Security layer thereby ensuring all the requirements of every Customer are consistently met whilst also meeting all the requirements of ISO 27001: 2013, for which INCHES has been certified couple of year back
At INCHES we follow a structured methodology for, Defining Business Requirements, Solution Architecture and Design, Solution Development, Testing, Training and Go Live of the new system (iConstellation). A lot of business requirements has come based on Operational Experience apart from all the feedback channels for the Customers on, Process Requirements and Operational Excellence.
The Go live of iConstellation ( New System ) beginning November 2022, has been spread over three weeks so as to ensure a seamless cutover there by ensuring no disruptions to the current service levels. Additionally we have also defined a robust Business Continuity Model so as to ensure that we are able to offer our services on a 24*7*365 basis without breaks because of technology related challenges.
As we move forward during this month , we would have begun our workshops for the Business Operations teams to define the requirements for Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the iConstellation Platform. There are plenty of exciting enhancements around ; Usage of BOTS, Mobility Enablement, Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Others, which are being planned to further reinforce our commitment to; Customer Centricity and Service Excellence..
